A "welder pipe filter" can refer to two different things: a welding fume extractor filter that cleans the air for the welder, or an inline strainer filter used in pipe systems for welding applications. The fume filter protects welders from harmful fumes using mechanical or activated carbon filters. The inline strainer filter is a mechanical component installed within a pipe to remove contaminants.

Welding fume filter
Purpose: To remove harmful airborne particles and fumes, such as zinc oxide from galvanized steel, generated during the welding process.

How it works: The air is pulled through the filter via an extraction arm or hood, and the filtered air is either released back into the workspace or exhausted outside.

Types:
Mechanical filters: Use pleated materials like fiberglass or polyester to capture particulates.
Activated carbon filters: Absorb hazardous gases, particularly useful for processes with high fumes.
Maintenance: Filters need to be cleaned or replaced regularly to maintain efficiency.
